IDQAO Director, Dr. Cesar T. Medula Jr. has joined about 280 Quality Assurance (QA) experts in the Philippines and abroad in the 2015 ASEAN Quality Assurance Network Seminar and Roundtable (2015 AQAN SRTM). (Appendix 2)

The AQAN Seminar was held on September 21-23, 2015 and was participated by the AQAN members, QA experts from Japan, and local participants from the Philippines which were composed of heads of higher education institutions, accrediting agencies, international organizations, and other stakeholders.  There were about 280 participants of the seminar.

Topics discussed during the seminar were: Institutionalizing the AQAF:  Towards a Zone of Trust in ASEAN Higher Education; 21st Century Challenges to the EQA System; Internationalization of QA:  Convergence of QA System, Challenges and Opportunities; Institutional Quality Assurance:  Good Practices, Issues and Challenges; Quality Assuring National Qualifications Frameworks:  Facilitating Factors and Constraints; and QA Issues and Challenges from the Perspective of Stakeholders

The event aimed to serve as a platform of knowledge exchange among AQAN members, local and international quality assurance experts on current concerns of quality assurance of higher education in the ASEAN region.

 The seminar which was hosted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) of the Philippines has the theme “Quality Assurance in ASEAN:  Issues, Challenges and Outcomes” and was held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Manila, Philippines.

On 3 September 2015, the 2015 AQAN Roundtable Meeting was conducted and this served as the general assembly of all AQAN members.  Although the APT QA Experts Meeting was a closed-door meeting, presentations are also shared to the public.

 The AQAN was founded in 2008 and it currently has ten full members and seven associate members among them are: Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council (BDNAC), Brunei ; Accreditation Committee of Cambodia (ACC), Cambodia; National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (NAAHE), Indonesia; Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Lao PDR; Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Malaysia; Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Myanmar; Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Philippines and many more.
